Presentation and Objectives

This day aims to showcase the research work carried out within the framework of the Final Year Projects of senior students from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Maintenance, as well as the research activities conducted by PhD candidates enrolled in doctoral programs in Industrial Engineering and Transportation Engineering.

The event will include a plenary conference as well as three poster sessions, organized by specialty: Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, and Industrial Maintenance Engineering and Management. These sessions are dedicated to final-year (Master’s) students for the presentation of their Final Year Projects.

In addition, three workshops in the form of oral presentations will be dedicated to the presentation of research work by PhD students enrolled in doctoral programs in Industrial Engineering and Transportation Engineering, focusing on three main themes: Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Transportation Engineering.

Participants in the various workshops will have the opportunity to present their work, showcase their research findings, and engage in discussions with their peers as well as with faculty members and researchers. This event will also serve as a scientific meeting space, promoting the exchange of experiences, academic debate, and the strengthening of ties between students, PhD students, academic staff, and industry professionals.

The scientific day is primarily intended for final-year students of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Maintenance, as well as all PhD students enrolled in doctoral programs in Industrial Engineering and Transportation Engineering.

Pr. BOURAS Abdelaziz

Qatar University

Biography: Abdelaziz Bouras is currently Professor at the College of Engineering of Qatar University. His current research interests focus on Software Engineering, Architectures for Lifecycle Engineering and Information Modeling, including digital preservation, data analytics and blockchains for Enterprise/Supply-Chains Information Systems.
In Qatar he acted as ICT Chair Professor in partnership with the MCIT Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (former ictQatar), and as Director/Manager for Research Support at Qatar University. Prior to that, he led the PRISMA and DISP “Information and Decision Systems” research labs and the RTI “Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Center” at Lumière University of Lyon.Prof. Bouras is currently the Chair of the IFIP WG5.1 Working Group on ICT Lifecycle management and regularly serves as expert for research/education agencies in EU, Asia and the Middle East. He is a holder of the Engineer degree from former INGM of Boumerdès, a PhD from University of Lyon, and a Honoris Causa PhD degree from Chiangmai University.

Pr. BENFRIHA Khaled

ENSAM Paris

Biography: Khaled Benfriha is a Full Professor at Arts et Métiers, Paris. He earned his Ph.D. (2005) from ENSAM and his HDR (2020) from Université Paris-Est. Having supervised over sixteen doctoral dissertations and authored fifty peer-reviewed articles, his research focuses on industrial engineering and Industry 4.0. He developed a large-scale technological platform for the digital transformation of industrial systems, supporting advanced manufacturing research and engineering education. In July 2025, he published a book with ISTE Editions on the digital transformation of industrial processes.

Abstract:

Modern production systems are complex ecosystems of connected machines, mobile robots,sensors, and software services. They must support customization, efficiency, and sustainabilitywhile adapting to constant changes in technologies, processes, and policies. In this context, the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) established a dedicated Working Group (WG5.1) to advance the integration of technological, methodological, and organizational approaches for the collaborative creation, management, and use of product and process data throughout the lifecycle of complex engineered systems.Over the past two decades, Product Lifecycle Engineering and Management (PLM) activities have expanded in both scope and ambition, driven by rapid industrial digital transformation and the growing need for interoperability, sustainability, and human-centered innovation in engineering practice. In my talk, I will highlight the following themes:
– Recent developments in PLM, illustrated through the activities of IFIP WG5.1.
– Selected work on integrating Digital Twins and AI with Industry 4.0 and Cyber-Physical systems.

This section will be dedicated to entrepreneurship and exchanges between students, doctoral candidates, and the industrial sector. Industrial partners will be invited to present their companies, share their experiences, and showcase their activities and areas of expertise.

An exhibition and networking space will also be organized, offering students and doctoral candidates the opportunity to interact directly with professionals, discover participating companies, and explore internship, collaboration, or employment opportunities.
